Scouts

Ages 10½ to 14

A worldwide adventure

Scouts is the third section of the 1st Filton Scout group and is for boys and girls aged between 10½ and 14 years.

We meet on Tuesdays from 6:45 to 8:45pm.

Scout activities are a mixture of learning and having fun. They will learn to turn their hands to many new skills and build confidence through working as part of a team - The Scout Troop is divided into smaller groups called Patrols, each headed up by a Patrol Leader and assisted by an Assistant Patrol Leader.

Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being camping. This is probably the activity that Scouts enjoy the most particularly if you add in the need to stand around a camp fire poking it with a stick.

The Scouts will also have the opportunity to take part in adventurous activities such as archery, air-rifle shooting, climbing in fact everything from Abseiling to Zorbing.

There are a range of badges available which Scouts will work towards during the Troop meetings. All Scouts will be given the opportunity to get the Chief Scout Gold Award which is the highest award a Scout can achieve.

Full details of the badge schemes is available here.

Badges and Uniform

You can find information about the Scout uniform and details on where all the badges go here on the Scouts official website. You can also learn about the badges in this section.

Scouts is an important age for any young person, as they start to find their voice and learn more about themselves. Take on all kinds of new challenges, meet new people and push yourself to try things you never would have tried before.
